Factor VIII or otherwise known as anti-haemophilic factor is a co-factor of factor IXa which in the presence of Ca2 and phospholipids form a complex that converts Factor X to Factor Xa.
Factor VIII deficient plasma is an immune depleted plasma that has been stripped of all of its factor VIII to give a level under 0.01iu/ml, whilst retaining normal levels of all other factors and fibrinogen.
